What is the “popping” sound I hear when getting an adjustment?

Many first-time chiropractic patients are concerned with “popping” sounds. Popping sounds are a regular part of a chiropractic adjustment, and are not cause for concern. It should be noted that these pops are also not the result of bones cracking”. Instead, pops result from stuck joints. As these joints are opened, the gas is released - similar to uncorking a bottle of champagne.

Doctors of chiropractic (DC) are required to complete an undergraduate degree and an accredited, four-year doctoral graduate program. DC’s must also must pass a board exam and obtain a license to practice.
